Conversation with: Anna Blumenkranz

The media artist and lecturer Anna Blumenkranz, who lives in Munich/DE, will give a lecture that provides an insight into her artistic practice and work in the field of wearables, creative technologies and e-textiles.

She works at the interface of art, technology and society and has been teaching at various universities since 2011, regularly giving lectures and workshops in Germany and abroad. As an active member of the Munich maker scene, she has many years of experience in designing and organising workshops on wearables and creative technologies for both adults and children.

Anna Blumenkranz works on EU-funded projects such as the WEAR Sustain platform (https://wearsustain.eu) and was part of the WORTH Partnership project in 2020 with “Vibro-Tactile: therapeutic interactive textiles for people suffering from anxieties, altzheimer or stroke patients.” In May 2017, her book “Wearables für Maker: Experimentieren, nähen, gestalten” was published by Franzis Verlag, and a year earlier – the DIY craft kit “Glow-Bots: Nähen mit LEDs” in collaboration with KOSMOS Verlag.

Anna Blumenkranz has worked with international institutions such as the Victoria & Albert Museum and Chelsea College of Arts in London, transmediale Berlin, Ars Electronica in Linz, The New Institute in Rotterdam, the University of St. Gallen, the Bavarian National Museum and Lothringer13 and PLATFORM in Munich.
