A project course held weekly from October 24 to February 25, led by Monja Hirscher, Irene Posch, Judit Eszter Kárpáti, and Petra Vicinová
COURSE DESCRIPTION
Which technique would you like to learn (better), and why? Which material particularly appeals to you, and which doesn’t? Which craft process or practitioner inspires you? What personal aspirations do you have for craft activities?
This project focuses on diverse interests, approaches, and hopes related to craft techniques. Based on individual answers to these questions, the project begins with immersing oneself in a craft and learning directly from master craftspeople. Through observation, copying, practicing, researching, collecting, analyzing, and imitating, participants will delve into the respective practice and, building upon this foundation, explore, test, and develop their own new approaches.
The project aims to enable students to individually immerse themselves in a technique of their choice and learn from practicing experts of their own choosing. Building upon this foundation, or in parallel, participants will develop their own practice and document it through samples and pieces that place established craft techniques in potentially new and unfamiliar contexts.
