What is the craft of the future?

What futures do we want to craft?

The Crafting Futures Lab was initiated to provide a platform for research and design practice and education that inquire into the social, technological and aesthetic interactions of crafts and (digital) technologies. It serves as a place for associated teaching, research, and collaborations.

As designers, educators, researchers, and technologists in the Crafting Futures Lab we investigate materials, techniques and tools, to generate and diversify knowledge. We engage in publication and exhibition activities, talks, and workshops to engage with a wider public.

The lab also hosts the focus theme Crafting Futures Toolkit where master students of the teacher training programme develop new approaches, topics and tools for education.
The lab space is housed within the Department of Design und Technology at the University of Arts Linz.
