What is the future of craft?

What is the craft of the future?

What futures do we want to craft?

The Crafting Futures Lab was initiated to provide a platform for research and design practice and education that inquire into the social, technological and aesthetic interactions of crafts and (digital) technologies. It serves as a place for associated teaching, research, and collaborations.

As designers, educators, researchers, and technologists in the Crafting Futures Lab we investigate materials, techniques and tools, to generate and diversify knowledge. We engage in publication and exhibition activities, talks, and workshops to engage with a wider public.

The lab hosts the focus theme Crafting Futures Toolkit for the teacher training programme in Technology and Design where students develop new approaches, topics and tools for education. Results are published under an open-source licence. The lab space is housed within the Department for Design und Technology at the University of Arts Linz.
