Crafting Futures Lab

Antonia Ludwig

Antonia Ludwig is a designer and researcher currently working as a research assistant at the Crafting Futures Lab at the University of Arts Linz.

In her practice she focuses on residues of human activity found in natural landscapes. She is interested in mapping what is visible and questioning the politics embedded in what remains unseen. Through industrialized systems and traditional crafts, she reflects on processes of extraction and material use, shaped by human needs and design-oriented aesthetics.

Her research began with a focus on water, and continues with and beyond it. Working and playing across physical materials, film, photography, and sound, different forms of making allow her to engage with stories that have been told, those that are remembered, and forms that open up new narratives.

Previously, she worked as a freelance designer and researcher in exhibition design and production in Kassel, Germany and Eindhoven, the Netherlands.
