Julia Moser will present current research projects under the theme From Earth to Colour: Practices of Making Place at the ETN Conference 2026 in Athens from October 21–23, 2026.
What can colour tell us about a place? Plants, soils, microorganisms, water and metals carry traces of where they come from, the transformations they undergo and the relationships formed along the way.
From Earth to Colour brings together a series of textile and material practices rooted in place. Through gathering, growing, preserving, dyeing and transforming, regional resources – including those easily overlooked or considered of little value – become carriers of knowledge and connection. Making becomes a way of relating to place: knowledge is not simply transmitted but encountered through materials, touch, observation and shared practice, allowing relationships with our surroundings to grow over time.
